The 50th Reunion of the Zeta Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha has gotten off to a great start and the fervor is growing daily. It will be a weekend of revelling, reminiscing and reuniting. It will also be about the leadership and scholarship of Alpha Phi Alpha. For all of us it started at Zeta Xi, but we’ve carried it to our families, friends, social and civic communities as well as our business relations.
For our 50th Reunion, we want to do it big, Alpha Style! We have a goal of raising $50,000.00 in scholarships to give out at the gala.
We know that fundraising and asking for money is sometimes a least favorite endeavor but we want to have fun with. So the Scholarship Committee has initiated the Brotherhood Challenge. It starts with each Line, from the charter line to the last, to challenge the line before and after it, to raise the most money. Each Brother will challenge his line brother(s) and members of his family to buy ads and make donations, for example a family may want to donate a $1,000 scholarship in the name of that family. We encourage Brothers to buy and sell ads, and we appreciate those who can and do. You will get the prices of the ads (full,half and quarter page). This will help, but will not get us to our goal. So, we have another initiative.
The Warm Call Solicitation. We know that many successful Brothers have maintained great business relationships throughout their careers. With the zeal exhibited by Alpha Men, many business relationships have flourished. These civic minded businesses would be happy to show their appreciation to Brothers who’ve contributed to their success, by donating a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student thru Alpha Phi Alpha’s well publicized 50th Reunion. They will have a plaque recognizing their gift, with a picture of the recipient in the local print medium(s) of their choice, they will also receive a framed picture for the activities wall. They will have the option of sending their designated representative to the gala to participate, or to let the Brother who solicited the donation appear as their representative for the photo op. We want our 50th Reunion to be one remembered as being true to the Jewels! Scholarship!
